HTC Hero getting Android 2.0
HTC is taking care of their existing Android devices - First it was the user interface Sense HTC Magic , now we learn that the HTC Hero is getting an update of Android 2.0. No specific time for this update, but at least it will be global, as opposed to the ( so far) of Taiwan only update the UI Sense for the Magic.
HTC has already confirmed to be working on phones using Eclair and owners of the hero will be happy to know that they are doing it too . HTC is currently busy with porting the user interface Sense to the newest version of Android, I saw a lot of changes under the hood, so they need to rewrite things and get them tested .
The update will be available for all versions of the hero - as the hero is not a "Google " phone no license restrictions on the way to get the update - exactly what stands between magic and the user interface Sense.
Poor HTC Magic owners once again called into question - the hardware must be able to handle Android v2.0, as it is almost identical to that of the hero, but HTC did not mention plans for the upgrade. Packing QWERTY power and touch-operation the Nokia N97 mini is supposed to deliver the same (if not even a bit better) performance than its chunkier brother. The price for the size reduction is the smaller display (3.2" vs 3.5"), a bit smaller keys on the keyboard and the lack of a D-pad.
The Nokia N97 mini was supposed to come out cheaper than the original Nokia N97 but with an expected price of 450 euro before taxes we cannot see this happening anytime soon.
